History

Car #002 was part of a two car team built by Mustang specialty builders, Gladney Brothers Motorsports. Chassis #001 won the SCCA Super Production Championship in 2001. Chassis #002 was constructed to build upon what was learned with #001, and to join #001 in the Grand Am Series for 2002. The cars were tested but did not compete in the Grand Am due to dissention within the team. Since 2002, #002 has raced at multiple vintage and NASA races.

Description

Car #88 is powered by a 375 horsepower, 306 cubic inche, cast block, V8 engine with a 10:1 compression ratio. It is equipped with SRP forged pistons, roller rockers, and aluminum Holley Systemax II heads with SS valves. The crankshaft is nodular cast, cross-drilled, and nitrite hardened. Fuel is supplied by a Holley 650 double pumper carburetor. The engine was rebuilt in August, 2010, and is fresh. The gearbox is a Tremec T-56 with a Redhead competition clutch and flywheel weighing in at 14 lbs.

This was the Lightweight car of the two produced. The body is epoxy composite and weighs under 100 lbs. complete. The chassis is a combination tube frame with production pan. It has coil over shocks and adjustable sway bars. The rear suspension is four link, and the brakes are Wilwood. The under tray is carbon fiber. The entire car weighs in at 2,780 lbs.

The car comes with an extra set of wheels and tires.

This car can be run in historic racing, current SCCA racing, as well as NASA and other events. As such it provides the owner with a tremendous amount of track time potential in any given season. The GB 400R was also designed for sprint and endurance racing. It has the speed to win SCCA Championships, and the endurance to provide you a strong reliable car over long seasons with a lot of racing.

There are only two of these cars. Both have been works supported. Chassis #002, the lightweight car, has yet to be raced to its potential. This is a great opportunity to acquire a great looking, great sounding, unique, Mustang racing car that is still simple with relatively low maintenance costs The price is also small a fraction of the cost to produce and develop the car to its current state.
