In 1992, the three Minardi Lamborghini team cars were raced by Christian Fittipaldi, Alex Zanardi, and Gianni Morbidelli. This particular car raced at the 1992 South African Grand Prix, the Spanish Grand Prix, and the Grand Prix of Mexico. The highest Minardi finish for the season was 6th place, garnering one championship point for the team. The sister car to the one currently offered here is on display at the Lamborghini factory museum in Sant’Agata Bolognese, the small triangle between Bologna and Modena, locally referred to as “Terra dei Motori” (Motor Valley). Photos of the sister car are show here with the car on the hardwood museum floor.
The Minardi underwent an extensive mechanical restoration in 2005. The Lamborghini 3512 (3.5 litre, 80 degree V-12) engine was rebuilt by G.B. Components in 2008. Receipts are available. The Minardi has almost no hours on it since, and has not been raced since restoration. The car has been used primarily for exhibition purposes. It is in excellent operational condition.
