1972 Datsun 240Z. Daytona & Sebring History

History

The Datsun began its racing life in early 1990. It began as an SCCA IT car. It was later converted to an SCCA GT2 car but not to the extent of changing its Vintage eligibility.

The 240Z has won over 60 races. These include numerous sprint and overall enduro wins with SVRA. They also include  seven wins and a second at Sebring, as well as two second place finishes and a third at Daytona.

The Datsun also won the 2005 SCCA GT2 NE Regional Championship, and backed it up with a second GT2 Championship in 2006. In addition, the 240Z won the HRG group 4 championship.

The Datsun is a two time Lime Rock Historic Festival winner, having qualified on pole and won all 4 races.

In addition to its victories, the 240Z has also held track records at Watkins Glen, New Hampshire International, Pocono, and Lime Rock. The car has achieved lap times of 58.8 in GT2 trim at Lime Rock, and 2:11 at Watkins Glen running on street TD’s.
