History
Update, May, 2024: Masters Historic Racing just announced that Formula Atlantic Plus (which includes Super Vees) will be included in the U.S. Grand Prix support race at COTA in October, 2024. You could race this March Super Vee in front of 100,000+ Formula One fans, and in races all across the country, for just $21,000. We raced in this event ourselves, and can tell you that it will be one of the highlights of your motor racing career.
This car, chassis number 80-6, was Josele Garza’s back up car for 1980. It remained the back up car throughout the season and has very few actual period races on it.
The car was purchased in 1985 and used for driver’s school. Then it was converted to a C-Sports Racer. The current owner purchased the car in 1991, and converted the car back to its original Super Vee specs.
During the restoration the March was configured in the same livery as Dennis Firestone’s 1980 March Super Vee. This was done by friends as a tribute to Dennis. Firestone won the USAC Mini-Indy (Super Vee) Championship in 1979, and raced his yellow March 80A during the 1980 season. Firestone would leverage his success in these March Super Vees to become IndyCar Rookie of the Year in 1980.
In 2017, this particular March won the VARA Formula Super Vee 2 Class Championship.
The March was most recently raced with SVRA at Laguna Seca in May, 2023, turning laps faster than the Pro Formula Mazdas that were there. The rear uprights were rebuilt just prior to that event. Invoices can be provided.
After Laguna, the March was prepped for the next SVRA race at Pahrump. It was track tested in May, 2024, and is ready to go.
Description

Ready to move up from Formula Ford, or to race in Historic Formula Atlantic for a fraction of the cost of owning and maintaining a Formula Atlantic car? If so, this March is a fabulous buy, and great entry into wings and slicks racing. Try something new for very little money indeed.
