History
Three Konig Heath Formula Fords were brought to the USA. Two were sold. One set a lap record at Texas World Speedway.
This particular Konig Heath we kept in the importer’s dry garage since the mid-1970’s, when the car was imported to the U.S. It was never sold. However, it was started up periodically, and run up and down the street. It has never been on a race track.
Description
The engine is the well known Scholar Formula Ford engine, used to propel top Formula Fords in England for over 50 years. This dry sump engine produces 110 h.p. with 175 lbs. compression, and over 60 lbs. of oil pressure. The engine starts and runs like new.
The Scholar is mated to the car’s Hewland Mk9 four speed gearbox. The Konig Heath’s suspension is by conventional upper and lower A-arms with coil over shocks and Girling disc brakes. The wheels are Weller style steel wheels with current Avon tires.
Spares include a nose and top body section.
The car is located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
