History
This is one of the three Team Lotus Formula Juniors for 1960. The drivers were Jim Clark, Trevor Taylor, and Peter Arundell. While this is Arundell’s car, chassis number 710, it is also reported that the drivers drove each other’s cars on occasion during the 1960 season. This particular Lotus has been considered and judged authentic by a leading Formula Junior historian.
In 1960, Clark and Taylor tied for first at the BRDC Championship. They were followed by Mike McKee, also in a Lotus 18, and Arundell. Arundell’s 1960 race record is below.

Arundell also finished 3rd in the John Davy Championship, behind Clark and Peter Ellis. Arundell would go on to win the final Formula Junior Championship in 1963, still driving for Team Lotus, and this time in the new monocoque Lotus 27.
Most recently, in 2024-25, this Team Lotus 18 was part of the Magic of Monaco exhibition at the Audrain Auto Museum in Newport, Rhode Island. There the car was displayed alongside other significant racing cars including Stirling Moss’ Maserati 250F, Michael Schumacher’s 1997 Ferrari F310B, and Alain Prost’s 1988 Monaco winning McLaren Honda MP4/4.
Description
The current owner has had the car restored to the highest legal specifications by High Tech Racing in the U.K. The 997 c.c. engine was built by Hi Tech with all new Richardson parts. It also has a custom header.
The chassis has been set up by GSD Racedyn. The dampers were set to match their recommendations. Miles Griffiths drove the car at the Silverstone Classic in 2018, where it won its class. He also drove it at the 2021 Members Meeting, where it was the fastest car of that era (see attached).
The gearbox is a Renault configured by MRM in the U.K, and is legal. HTP papers have been issued for the car. They are good through 2030.
Since restoration, the Lotus has raced only three times in Europe. It was shipped to the U.S. in 2023, and raced at the Lime Rock Fall Festival that same season. That was the last time the car was raced. So it only has four races on it since a total, no expense spared, restoration.
The Lotus is top shelf in every respect; history, restoration quality, and proven performance with winning race results. The price is also amazing, especially when considering the above factors and what has been spent on this car.
The Lotus is a drum brake FJ for Goodwood. It has already won at Silverstone. Take it to Monterey, Waktins Glen, Lime Rock and win there too. When you’re not racing it, you can also exhibit it.
