The early history of this Lola Mk2, BRJ-14, is below. It has graciously been provided to us by Roger Herrick, owner of Lola Mk2, BRJ-1, and Duncan Rabagliati who has helped us fill in some gaps.
9 July 1960 – entered as #2 for Roy Winkleman at Goodwood Members meeting. DNA
3 August 1960 – late entry #6 Driver David Baker at Mallory Park BARC Members meeting. Finished 9th.
20 August 1960 entered as #50 for Roy Winkleman at Goodwood. DNS best p.t 1m 15.4s. Winkelmann was a reserve, hence the reason for his DNS.
27 August 1960 entered as #132 for Roy Winkleman at Oulton Park – present, but result not recorded.
10 September 1960 entered as #7 for Roy Winkleman at Goodwood Members meeting. Finished 4th.
17 September 1960 entered as #84 for Roy Winkleman Silverstone. DNA
24 September 1960 entered as #132 for Roy Winkleman retired lap 5 with a radiator problem.

After 1960, the car’s history is currently unknown until 1987. The short, 1960-only, racing history is fairly typical of some front engine Juniors. They were quickly renedered uncompetitive by the rear (mid) engine Lotus 18 Formula Junior and then other rear engined cars in 1960. So many of the front engine cars were parked, modified, or used in other applications, and thus did not appear in later Formula Junior grids.
In 1987 BRJ-14 was imported from the U.K. to the U.S. by well known vintage racer Bob Woodword from Iowa. Woodward raced the car for years in U.S. historic races. Thereafter the Lola was sold to the current owner and campaigned in historic races ever since.

Description
The Lola is powered by an 1100 c.c. Ford Cosworth dry sump engine with Weber carburetors, as originally fitted to the car by the Lola factory back in 1960.
MG-based gearbox.
The engine was designed to be offset in the chassis to lower the car’s center of gravity and profile, and was balanced by the weight of the driver.
Finned aluminum drum brakes.
