1963 Jaguar Mk 2, 3.8 liter
Race, rally, or high performance street restoration project.
Purchase now for just 25% of investment. Great buy.
History
This car was purchased as a rust free California black license plate Jaguar Mk2. See the first four photos below of the car at the time it was initially purchased. The plan was to build it into a car for road rallies, or vintage racing.
Shortly after purchase the Jaguar was shipped to a race car prep shop that maintains several other race cars for the owner in the U.S. Northeast. Work commenced and then stalled a few years ago as the owner became preoccupied with some of his other cars.
The Jaguar is now being sold as an excllent project with the drive train, suspension, brakes, etc. already gone through.
Description
The engine was professionally rebuilt by a well known race car engine builder to a streetable high performance standard. A five speed gearbox was also installed. Additionally, wiring was replaced as needed. The engine appears to have matching numbers to the chassis tag.
The Jaguar does come with its original interior, and also a competition racing seat if you would prefer.
These Mk2 cars were rock stars right from the start in British touring car races. They won twenty in a row starting in 1963. Graham Hill won the Championship in 1963. Roy Salvadori and Denny Hulme won the 1963 Brands Hatch 6 Hours driving a 3.8-liter Mk 2. Peter Nocker won the 1963 European Touring Car Challenge in a 3.8-liter Mk 2. Bob Jane won consecutive Australian Touring Car Championships in 1962 and 1963. Even Beatle, George Harrison, had a Mk2. See photo below. Other notable period drivers included Jack Sears along with F1 drivers Bruce McLaren, Mike Parkes, John Surtees, and more.

This Jaguar project can be purchased for less than 25% of what has already been expended on it. As we know, that is the best way to buy an project, one where someone else has spent the significant money and now you get to do the fettling to complete and enjoy it.
So complete the car the way you want it. You can complete it with its original paint/patina, or respray it, or wrap it with a fun livery, maybe something for La Carrera Panamericana? How fun would that be?
