History
Originally campaigned in the mid-late 1960s with the SCCA Central Division. Currently campaigned with CSRG in USRRC <2.0L. Logbooks back to mid 1980s. This car’s early logbooks and history refer to a couple different car numbers (51, 55), but the only chassis stamp is an ‘8’. It is believed to be the last SR3 built, and is one of the very few built with the center console.
Plenty more Bobsy history and information available here:

Description
The Bobsy is in overall excellent condition. Dry sump 1700cc Lotus TwinCam built by Lotus West, dual Weber 45s, Hewland mk9 5-speed, limited slip. 1050#, 180hp. Fiberglass body over aluminum semi-monocoque chassis. LD20 brakes. Electronic ignition, MSD, Pertronix. Some small chips and scratches as expected in an actively campaigned vintage race car with racing patina. Accepted everywhere including the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion (aka the Monterey Historics) in 2020, ’21, ’22. The car is tech current and ready to race. New Harmon fuel cell 2014, Schroth belts good until 2025. Currently wearing Avon vintage Formula Ford tires on 6″/7″ wheels. Can also be raced on included 7″/8″ wheels with wider tires. Owner is 6′ and fits easily.
Major offseason chassis upgrade and recent full service by Auto Spa Sonoma (rear subframe-to-monocoque junction completely disassembled/redesigned/rebuilt, all fluids changed, alignment, corner-weighted, cv service, etc). The car just completed the 2022 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion and ran perfectly. Competitive against the Lotus 23b’s and Elva Mk7’s at half the price.
The engine was built as a mild race engine, CR 11:1 and 7000 rpm cams. It is not a short life 13:1, 8500 rpm engine. The car is run with a 7400 rpm rev limiter, and the engine still tests in good condition (leak down and compression). Engine is at about it’s half-life (20 hrs) before recommended fresh at 40 hrs.
The car has been referred to as a 1965 by the past several owners, but recent research has concluded that is was built in 1966.
Spares/extras – original cast magnesium Bobsy wheel set (6″/8″), extra Panasport-style wheels to run 7″/8″, short roll hoop (tall hoop currently installed), swaybars, gear sets, clutch, steering wheel, lower body panels, boxes of track day parts (pumps, gaskets, ignition sets, muffler, hoses, cables, etc), ‘passenger’ seat, etc. Notebooks full of history, data, build sheets, pictures, and old logbooks.
