1968 Meyers Manx Corvair Dune Buggy Survivor
Barn find. Runs and drives.
Sold
History
Owned by the present owner for many years. It was once on display in a car musuem as a survivor. Most recently it has been stored in a very nice barn. It was started in the barn in August, and driven out. Other than that, it pretty much is what you see, an original Manx that has some needs from sitting around.
The car has been verified by Winnie Meyers as what she calls an early “Pre-Tag” Meyers Manx. It comes with a clear title, but it was not registered for the street under the current owner’s name.
Description
The Manx is powered by a six cylinder, air-cooled, Corvair engine. The Corvair tag on the dash indicates it may be the 140 h.p. version of the engine. The gearbox and rear end are all Corvair too. The front axle is VW.
The lights and horn work. The wipers are there, but either they are not currently working, or the right button to turn them on/off has not been discovered yet. The brake pedal is soft, but the car comes with new VW and Corvair brake parts.
The Meyer’s Manx also has its original side curtains that match its top. The floor pan is in good shape.
