1971 Lotus 69 Formula Ford, 7169/28FF

This may be the last Lotus 69

Major price drop to $45,725. Now thousands less than the last two Lotus 69 FF's we sold.

History

The prior owner of this Lotus 69, a Lotus collector and racer for many decades out of Southern California, had two Lotus 69 FF cars. This is the one he believed he got from another Lotus collector/racer, John Arnold, from Golden, Colorado. We have not been able to locate Mr. Arnold to gather further information on the car’s earlier history. So we just don’t know on that at the present time.

However, the car’s hand engraved chassis tag, which is consistent with other Lotus 69 chassis tags, is still on the chassis. The car also still retains its original Arch Motors chassis number. That number is AM 57.

The car was vintage raced by the last two owners.

Description

The Lotus 69 chassis was set up by Tom Fallon at Throttle Therapy. The shocks were dyno tuned by Performance Shock, Inc. (PSI) at Sonoma Raceway.

The gearbox has been rebuilt by Shippert Racing Services in Rohnert Park, California. This rebuild included a new ring & pinion. The current gears in the car are set up for Sonoma Raceway, Laguna Seca, and Thunderhill. The gearbox now has 10 events on it.

The Lotus is powered by an Ivey engine with an aluminum head. The bottom end now has approximately 15 hours on it. However, the head (where most of the power gains are made in a Formula Ford engine) was serviced by Ivey only 5 hours ago. These engines typically run 40-50 hours before refreshing.

The Sabelt saftey harness expired at the end of 2024.

Spares:

2 sets of current production Revolutions (one set on car)

1 set of steel wheels

I new set of Avons

New nose

New Super Starter

Fuel pump

Coil

Distributor, caps

Plugs, plug wires

Misc. new electrical and bearings

The Lotus is in excellent condition. To run it on the track you will need only fuel, a tire pressure check, and to check the charge on the new battery. The valves have already been adjusted, the oil and filter changed, and the brakes bled, etc. The car is ready to go.

The Lotus 69’s are very rare cars. We have sold half a dozen or so of them over the past 10 years. They are fast and collectible as the last of the Lotus racing cars available to the public. It appears this car, chassis 7169/28FF, may actually be the last Lotus 69 built.
