History:
Research to date shows the March was raced by Carlo Franchi, “Gimax” from 1976 through 1977. Franchi entered his races under the name “Gimax”, which was a combination of his children’s names, Gigi, and Massimo (Max). Gimax was very successful with the March, winning and finishing on the podium many times both in non-championship, and championship races in the Campionato Italiano de Groupo 6.
Racing Sportscars has published the following period racing results for Gimax driving March 74S #73S-17, powered by a BMW M12, 1991 cc engine.
May 16, 1976: Gr. 6, Varano: 3rd Place. S2.0, Gimax.

World Sports Racing Prototypes reports chassis number 73S-17 as built in 1973, and originally owned by March Engineering. WSRP also states chassis 17 was raced by Gimax starting in 1975, then later by Rizzi of Verona, then to Tullio, then to Yasuto Yamada around 2011.
Most recently the March has been raced in historic racing in the U.S., including such events as the Monterey Reunion. The car is in excellent condition, and has been maintained by one of top historic racing prep shops in the U.S.

BMW M12/7 engine. Hewland FG 400 gearbox. Aluminum alloy tub, with magnesium uprights.
