1978 Lola T620 Super Vee

Great, inexpensive, entry for the Masters Formula Atlantic Plus Series

History

Lola built twenty six Lola T620 chassis. These were the new advanced generation water cooled, monococque Super Vees that ushered in the next era of Super Vees. They were now moving away from the Formula Ford type of construction and performance and moving toward  Formula Atlantic construction and performance. Soon these water cooled Pro Super Vees would take over where the Pro Formula Atlantic series left off. The Super Vees would also later compete head-to-head with Formula Atlantics in SCCA Club Racing.

This particular T620 is the ex-Mike Yoder pro Super Vee. Raced in 1978 Mini Indy Series and Bosch Gold Cup. Only 7 races since new. Yoder finished 10th out of 37 cars in the U.S. Formula Super Vee Championship, He also won the SCCA Runoffs in 1978 driving another Lola Super Vee.

Lola T-620’s were among the top cars in 1978, achieving multiple race wins. Herm Johnson finished second in the Championship driving a T-620.

We think Super Vees remain an amazing value in todays historic racing market. They race competitively with the Formula Atlantics at 1/2 to 1/3rd the price. Maintenance and spares are also much less expensive. Compare the performance and technology you get with a Super Vee vs. a Formula Ford for about the same price.
