History

One of two such Can Am/sports racers built in 1978 for Schkee Can Am owner/driver Tom Spalding. The Shakee was designed by Roman Slobodynskij, Rockwell Aerospace and Dan Gurney All American Racing, engineer. The car was constructed by Fabcar Engineering, builders of Indy Cars, Porsche endurance racing cars, and Daytona Prototypes.

Description

Chassis: Steel, Chrome Moly tube frame with aluminum panels (stressed) in very good condition. Fuel cell (12 gal) with electric pump. Front twin wishbone (cadmium plated) suspension. Rear wishbone, trailing arm (cadmium plated) with aluminum uprights. Koni/ Bilstien shocks.

Body: Aluminum, in very good condition.

Engine: Low Time Oldsmobile aluminum 215 cu. in. V8, with 4 x 2 barrel downdraft Dellortos, Arias 13:1 comp ratio pistons, Manley s.s. valves with Crower cam and Crane rockers, 327 steel (nitrided) crank with polished shot peened rods. Custom road race pan with crank wiper. Aluminum radiator and oil cooler. Electronic ignition. Approximate 330 hp

Gearbox: Porsche 901 5-speed transaxle with heavy duty clutch.

Brakes- Drilled rotors with rebuilt calipers and master cylinders and Aeroquip lines.
Wheels: Period ATS wheels powder coated.

Spares: Engine block and heads, used transaxle, shocks, pushrods,& misc hardware.

The Shakee is in very good condition, but will need the usual race prep before being run at speed.
