1980 Van Dieman RF 80 Club Ford

SCCA Club Ford and Vintage Club Ford eligible

Sold

Full frame up restoration by Mike Gent of Gent Restorations. This was his personal car. Everything was done, including a new Loyning engine and re-cased/rebuilt Hewland gearbox.

After restoration, and before Mike could drive it, the car was purchased by its next owner for his son to drive. During that period the car was maintained by Veloce Motors West, in Petaluma, CA. Pro Formula Ford driver/engineer, Ethan Shippert looked after the car while it was at Veloce. The car was raced approximately three times.

The current owner purchased the Van Dieman to take part in the IMSA 50th Anniversary Formula Ford Feature Race at the 2019 Monterey Reunion. His first time in the car he finished in the top 20 out of 60 cars.

Thereafter the car was sent to Throttle Therapy Garage for a complete chassis set up and race prep. The car is now properly balanced, aligned, bump steered, sprung,  and shock valved to maximize the car’s performance.

The Van Dieman is also set up to accommodate tall drivers, up to 6’4″, but maintain the car’s original configuration and appearance.

The car has super light bodywork. It has one set of Revolution wheels and another set of brand new Weller wheels shod with ACB9’s.

This car can win overall in vintage Club Ford, and in SCCA Club Ford.

As described by one of the car’s prep shops, the Van Dieman is “A super clean car, really nice, and could be stupid fast in the right hands.”
