History

The Crossle spent most of its life on the U.S. east coast. Its early racing history is yet unknown, which is fairly typical of many Formula Fords, however its full ownership history is known.

1) Dr Richard Kidd (1978-1986)

2) James Morgan (1986-?)

3) George Levien

4) Tim Stanford

5) Tom Clark Jr

6) Steve Shelton Jr

Most recently the Crossle has been raced in vintage races on the U.S. west coast. It is on-the-button and ready to go.

Description

The Crossle was subject to a frame up restoration during the pandemic by IMSA mechanic John Eversley for Formula Atlantic Champion Steve Shelton. Wayne Brown refreshed the Ivey engine and rebuilt the Hewland gearbox, including a new ring & pinion. The Crossle only has 1.5 break in/set up hours on it since the restoration.

The Crossle comes with 2 extra sets of Revolution wheels. One set has a brand new set of Hoosier treaded tires mounted on them.  Additional spares include a spare nose and a spare long tail, both painted and ready to install along with a small box of misc track support spares.

The car is currently located in California where it is being run by a pro shop for its current owner. The Crossle is represented as “absolutely race ready to the core.”

The Crossle 32F was one of the most successful and durable of all the Formula Fords. In 1977, Nigel Mansel would pilot his Crossle 32F to 27 race victories and the 1977 British Formula Ford Championship on his way to becoming F1 World Champion and IndyCar Champion. Skip Barber would adopt these cars for his famous racing school through which many pro drivers and champions would emerge. The Crossles were the cars to have back then, and remain so today in historic racing.

This is an absolutely top flight 32F with which the new owner can race and win in Historic Formula Ford racing across the globe as well as in local SCCA Club Ford racing here at home. This car cannot be replicated for its published price. If you want one of the very best cars by design and preparation, and to maximize your comfort and enjoyment at the track regardless of your ability, we think this Crossle merits your serious consideration.
