1987 Argo Formula Atlantic

History
Argo records from Allen Brown and Chris Townsend from oldracingcars.com show this was a JM11 that didn’t actually leave the factory until 1987. It was converted to Atlantic trim with some special modifications according to Jo Marquart’s records – with a handwritten note pointing to the original owner (Jim Burnett).
Thereafter it was delivered to Jim Burnett in the Pacific Northwest. The Argo was raced three times by Al Karlberg in the late 1980’s. Then it was parked. As a result, the car remained very original, including its bodywork and decals from the 1987 WCAR Pro Formula Atlantic Series.
Description
The Argo has since been fully restored. It has one test day on an Ivey Engines Cosworth built in 2012. The gearbox is a Hewland FT200. The Argo is also equipped with a full Aim system including a data display steering wheel.
Al Karlberg also stated that this Argo was a special build of the 1984-spec JM11 with wider improved geometry compared to earlier models. (especially the SuperVee versions which were narrow track).
This is the Formula Atlantic version of the successful Argo Super Vees from the 1970s and 1980s. It is a direct competitor to a Ralt RT4.
