1987 Ralt RT4 Formula Atlantic
Ex-Pro Car. Great Masters FA Plus Car
Sold
History
Chassis number 617.
Raced by John Lloyd of Chicago in the Formula Atlantic pro series in 1987-88. Lloyd’s best finishes were podiums at Mosport in 1987, and again at Mid-Ohio in 1988.
Dennis Eade of Comprep prepared and ran the car for Lloyd. Lloyd later acquired a Swift in 1988, and then had the RT4 stored with Eade at Comprep.
The RT4 only ran a total of 14 races in period. Qualifying and race results can be seen in the Photos section below.
In 2011, 1982 CASC Formula Atlantic Champion Dave McMillan purchased the Ralt from Lloyd and picked it up. The car was still with Dennis Eade at Comprep. McMillan brought the RT4 to his native New Zealand to be campaigned in historic races.
The Ralt was then acquired by its current owner and raced one time at Rapuna in 2013. Since then the car has returned to the U.S. and is currently located in California.
Description
The Ralt has only ever been maintained by Dennis Eade. It has a Jennings Cosworth Ford BDD engine. The car has a fire system, but does need new belts.
Spares include rims, travel wheels, quick lift jack, gears, fuel churns, some suspension arms, etc.
The RT4 is a car capable of winning overall in Masters Formula Atlantic Plus, CSRG, VARA, HSR, SVRA, and more. You could have been on the grid in this Ralt at the U.S. Grand Prix at COTA for the Formula Atlantic Plus support race, racing in front of hundreds of thousands of F1 fans.
The RT4’s are still affordable, but for how long, especially with the new premier events that they are getting invited to? Get an RT4 and run at the premier events like the U.S.G.P. for less than the cost of of just a single Historic F1 DFV engine.
