Brad Frisselle’s Datsun 240Z

1976 IMSA GTU Champion. One of 1st 240Zs Imported to U.S.

This is the  ex-Brad Frisselle/Transcendental Racing Datsun 240Z.

In 1976, Frisselle and his 240Z captured the IMSA GTU crown winning eight of eleven races. The small, independent, Transcendental team took on and bested the mighty factory supported teams. This 240Z is also one of the, if not the first Datsun 240Z imported into the U.S. The car would launch one of the most successful sports car lines ever.

Much has already been researched and published about this well known car by noted historians, 240Z aficionados and experts, and premier restoration shops.  Below are links providing additional information about the car directly from those sources.  A fabulous photo documentary of the car’s history from its beginnings, through period competition years, subsequent complete restoration, and current vintage racing career.

Vintage Road & Race Car Magazine. The 2019 Gary Horstkorta article with photos by Dennis Gray.

Speed Hunters. An insightful article regarding the car’s high quality restoration at Canepa with photos provided by Larry Chen and Sean Klingelhoefer Period race results showing overall finishing positions. The results also show drivers John Morton, Don Devendorf, and Tony
Adamowicz racing, and winning, with the car.
